BEAD FOAMING – A GROWING TECHNOLOGY TO PRODUCE LOW-DENSITY PARTS WITH COMPLEX SHAPES

Foams produced by bead foaming are formed by expanded beads welded together in a part. The bead foaming technology allows the generation of low-density foams with complex shapes. This process is well-known in the industry to produce low-density elements for packaging (such as expanded polystyrene (EPS)) and the automotive industry (polypropylene-based beads, (EPP)). In the last ten years, the interest to translate this technology to other systems and applications has been growing continuously.

CellMat Technologies has a wide expertise in the production and characterization of bead foams, as well as the development of formulations specifically designed for this process. In this webinar, we will present a brief introduction to the topic, and we will show our methodology to deal with the development of bead foams based on different systems: polyolefins, technical polymers, thermoplastic elastomers, bioplastics, etc.
