NANOPOL: LOW DENSITY NANOCELLULAR POLYMERS FOR THERMAL INSULATION IN BUILDINGS. BASIC HEAT TRANSFER MECHANISMS AND LCA

Consortium:

CellMat Technologies (project leader), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and Universidade Estadual de Campinas.

The NANOPOL project aims to develop nanocellular polymers for building thermal insulation with ultra-low thermal conductivity and low cost. Its main challenge is to reduce the currently high density, which it addresses by exploring innovative strategies such as bimodal cellular structures and nanoparticle-reinforced outer layers. In addition, the project will develop heat transfer models and environmental assessments to optimize performance and reduce energy consumption, material use, and emissions.

Call & Funding Entities:  R&D projects in international collaboration within the framework of the M-ERA.NET network (call 2020). Project financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union and the Junta de Castilla y León, through the Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICE).
